PCS orders do not negotiate. A report date is fixed, the household move is already complicated, and driving a second vehicle across the country is time you do not have. Shipping it is usually the cheaper answer once fuel, nights on the road and the mileage you put on the car are counted honestly.
A percentage, not a flat credit
Worth understanding before you compare offers: several transport companies advertise a military discount as a fixed credit off the total. A fixed credit is the same amount whether your vehicle moves 300 miles or 3,000.
Ours is 10% of the shipment. On a short move the difference is small. On a cross-country PCS — which is most PCS moves — a percentage scales with the cost and a flat credit does not. Compare the two on your actual lane rather than on which number sounds larger.
Who qualifies
Active-duty military personnel and veterans. Tell us when you request the quote and the discount is applied to the price you are given.
We do not ask for documentation up front. If eligibility needs confirming for your situation we will say what is needed before you book.
Shipping under orders
Give us the widest window you can. A range of dates gives us far more carriers to work with than a single fixed day, and that shows up in the price. Where the date genuinely cannot move, expedited auto transport is the service priced for the constraint — say so rather than hoping.
Base access varies. Some installations restrict commercial vehicle entry. Where a full-size hauler cannot reach the address we agree a nearby meeting point in advance, not on the day. See door-to-door auto transport.
Summer is the crush. PCS season overlaps with the general relocation peak, and carrier supply on the busiest corridors tightens for the same weeks every year. Booking early is worth more than any discount.
Shipping more than one vehicle on the same lane is usually cheaper per unit. Mention it at quote stage so it is sourced as one movement.
A note on personal items. You will see transport companies advertise an allowance of personal belongings in the boot as a military perk. Federal regulation prohibits carriers from transporting household goods in a shipped vehicle, and cargo insurance does not cover them. We follow that rule. Ship your belongings separately — it is the answer that does not put your vehicle's coverage at risk.
Deploying rather than moving?
A vehicle going into storage still has to get there. Same process.
Which transport type
Open transport is the standard choice and the most economical. Enclosed makes sense where the vehicle's value or paint makes weather exposure the wrong trade. Long-distance moves: state-to-state car shipping.
What the discount applies to
The discount reduces the transport price we quote you. It does not change how the shipment works — the factors that drive your quote apply the same way: distance, lane density, vehicle size and running condition, open or enclosed transport, timing flexibility and season.
A 10% reduction on an honestly-priced quote beats a bigger-sounding discount off an inflated one. We publish no rate card to discount from.

Student Discount
10% off vehicle transport for students relocating for college or university.
Driving a car to campus means a long solo trip, fuel, a night or two on the road and several hundred miles on a car you would rather not add them to. Shipping it costs less than that adds up to more often than people expect.
Who qualifies
Students relocating for college or university. Say so when you request the quote.
Term dates are the whole problem
Every student in the country moves in the same fortnight. Carrier demand into university towns spikes hard in late summer, and again in reverse at the end of the year.
Book well ahead of move-in week. This is the one decision that saves real money, and it saves more than the discount does.
Campus access is often restricted. University districts have narrow streets, permit parking, height barriers and loading restrictions, and a 75-foot hauler cannot manoeuvre through most of them. We agree an accessible meeting point nearby in advance — see door-to-door auto transport.
Someone must be present at both ends to inspect the vehicle and sign the bill of lading. If you are flying in later, nominate someone and brief them.
